COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team finished the 2001 campaign with a 3-0 victory over South Florida at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon.

On Senior Day, in front of 417 Lady Tiger fans, Memphis improved its Conference USA record to 3-7 and finished the season with a shutout for the second-straight year. In the 2000 finale, the Lady Tigers pounded Christian Brothers, 4-0.

Three seniors, midfielder Michelle Meduri and defenders Jen Thiele and Suzanne Williams donned Tiger Blue for the last time. For Thiele, the victory was especially sweet, the Edmonton, Alberta, Canada native scored her second career goal at the 84:07 mark to seal the Lady Tiger victory at 3-0.

Memphis jumped out to an early lead when freshman Corina Vilhodt crossed the first of her two assists on the day to midfielder Annika Moller at 9:10. Vilhodt then found junior forward Ali Baker at the 43:01 mark and the Lady Tigers went into the half carrying a 2-0 lead.

Moller completed a three-point performance when she found Thiele in front of the net with just-under six minutes remaining. Thiele, who had been relieved earlier in the second half, scored less-than a minute after she had reentered.

Memphis finishes the season with a 5-12-1 (3-7, C-USA) record, while the Bulls fell to 4-11-2 (1-7-1, C-USA).
