MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Lady Tigers soccer team beat Marshall University, 3-1, tonight. Memphis got off to an early lead in the first half, and was able to hold on to get the win. The Lady Tigers have earned their 13th win of the season, making it the most wins in school history in a single season.Lady Tigers Beat Marshall, 3-1

"We played well tonight and came out with a win," said Coach Brooks Monghan. The ladies played and fought hard. There was a couple of good individual performances tonight."

Defenders Kate Murphy and Kelsey Bakker got the Lady Tigers on the board early with a 2-0 lead going into halftime to give the Lady Tigers the win. Murphy scored the Lady Tigers first goal, while Bakker scored the game winning goal. Both defenders earned their first goals of the season in this match.

"The passing game was off tonight. We need to and will improve before Sunday's match against EastCarolina," said Monaghan.

The Lady Tigers have improved to thirteen wins this season, breaking the previous record of twelve. They have one more game left in the regular season, before entering conference play on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

"Kelsey, Ashley Berra and Krista Turner had good performances tonight," added Monaghan. "Now we are in a great position to play for a championship."

The Memphis women's soccer team will play their last C-USA game of the season against East Carolina on Sunday, Nov. 4, at 11 a.m CT.
