MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis women's soccer freshman Vendula Strnadova was named to the Soccer Buzz Central Region All-Freshman team, Soccer Buzz Central Region Freshman of the Year, while also earning a spot on the Soccer Buzz Freshman All-Americas second team for 2007. Strnadova had a stellar freshman campaign as she dominated the midfield for the Lady Tigers.

Strnadova wraps up her freshman campaign with the awards still rolling in. She was named to the Soccer Buzz Central Region first team a week ago. Strnadova was honored by Conference USA this season as she garnered all-freshman team, freshman of the year and All-C-USA first team honors. She was the only freshman to receive first team honors. She was named to the NSCAA/adidas All-Central Region second team. Strnadova rounded out the season with six goals and two assists, including the gamewinner that earned the Lady Tigers their first C-USA Championship title.

"The coaching staff is extremely proud of Vendula," said head coach Brooks Monaghan. "A player of her caliber definitely deserves credit and the sky is the limit. She comes to practice every day ready to play and it has paid off for her. The awards she has received this year are remarkable and hopefully they will continue in the years to come."
