Memphis, Tenn. – Resurrection Catholic High School midfielder/forward/defender Emmaleigh Davis has signed a Nation Letter of Intent to join the University of Memphis women’s soccer program as announced by head coach Brooks Monaghan. Davis is the fourth of seven signees for the Lady Tigers 2010-11 signing class.

“Emmaleigh Davis is a player that we feel is very versatile,” Monaghan said. “We are bringing her in as a forward and I think she can score a lot of goals for us. She has a knack for the goal and she is very good at a lot of things. It is hard to find goal scorers and I think Emmaleigh is one of those players.”

Davis is a multi-sport athlete at Resurrection Catholic High School earning six letters in soccer, four letters in cross country, two letters in softball and one letter in track and basketball. She is the leading goal scorer in school history and is a two-time All-State selection and a three-time All-Coast selection. She has been the team captain for the Eagles since her sophomore season.

At the club level, Davis has played for the Gulf Coast United Futbol Club in Gulfport, Miss. under the direction of Coach Christopher Pryor. She was a member of the Mississippi State ODP squad in 2008 and 2009.

“She is tough, she is gritty, she is feisty and she is just the type of player we want,” Monaghan said. “She competes all the time and it is a coach’s dream to have a player like that. With her versatility, I think she could also become a great defender, but time will tell where she best suits us. We are very confident that she can come in and compete to play up front for us and with her versatility could come in and play in the back. She suits us very well with what she brings to the table. With a player like Emmaleigh you have several different options and I expect her to have a very bright future here at the University of Memphis.”

Davis is the daughter of Davy and Pamela Davis of Pascagoula, Miss.
