March 5, 2014
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team will face a strong test on Thursday as the Ghana Youth National Team will match up against the Lady Tigers on Thursday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. and admission is FREE.
"This is a great opportunity for us," head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "Number one, we pick up a sixth (spring) match with us playing an international team. We couldn't ask for a better opportunity than playing a team getting prepared for the World Cup. Ghana is a strong soccer nation and they've been over here playing a few games with some good results. This will be a tough test for us. Any time you get a chance to play against a team representing their country, it's very special."
Following Thursday's match, Memphis will have four more spring matches, three of which are in Memphis. The Lady Tigers take on UT Martin at Mike Rose Soccer Complex on March 29 at 7 p.m. Memphis plays Vanderbilt on April 5 at the Park Avenue Campus and closes the spring slate against Arkansas State on April 19 at the Park Avenue Campus.
