MEMPHIS, Tenn. - University of Memphis women's soccer head coach Brooks Monaghan announced Wednesday that Formby, Liverpool, native Lucy Cunningham has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Lady Tiger soccer program for the 2012-13 season.

Cunningham helped the Range High School squad to league championships the last two season and the squad will play for the league cup later this spring. Cunningham helped her team with the County Cup in 2010-11 as well. On the club level, Cunningham plays for Coach Andy Spence and Everton F.C. reserves.

"We feel fortunate to find a player of Lucy's potential this late in the recruiting process," Monaghan said. "We think she is very versatile. She can play outside back, outside-mid or outside forward. She is very technical and reads the game extremely well. She is also extremely passionate for the game. We are looking forward to having Lucy join our program this fall."

Lucy is the daughter of Lisa Laisney and Martin Cunningham. She is undecided on her major at the U of M.

Why did Lucy choose the U of M?
"I chose the University of Memphis because of the standard the team has with academics. I also loved the set up the program has and the facilities."
