K. Davis in CONCACAF Play for Canada

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Memphis’ soccer duo of Kylie Davis and Valerie Sanderson are among Canada’s Under-20 stars headed to training camp in Portland, Ore., to prepare for the 2014 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The duo will be looking to impress Canada U-20 Women’s National Team head coach Andrew Olivieri and his staff over the next 12 days as the training camp will run through Friday, Apr. 11, in Portland.

“It’s always an honor to have any of our players represent their country,” Lady Tigers head coach Brooks Monaghan said. “Anytime we have student-athletes play at this level, it is a big honor for our university and our soccer program. Obviously, both players are well-deserving of this opportunity and we wish them nothing but the best in this camp.”

Canada will serve as the host nation for the 2014 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup from Aug. 5-24. Canada will officially kick off the competition in Toronto, where their opening match against Ghana will take play at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5. Canada will face Finland on Friday, Aug. 8 in Toronto before closing group play on Tuesday, Aug. 12 against Korea DPR in Montreal at 7 p.m.
