Forty-Eight Tiger Student-Athletes Earn C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal

The University of Memphis had 48 student-athletes earn Conference USA Academic Medals for having a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better it was announced by the league office today. The Tigers led the conference with 48 academic medalists, with the 48 honorees also being a program record according to Dr. Joe Luckey, Director of Athletic Academic Services. SMU had 46 honorees and East Carolina had 40. In all, 394 C-USA student-athletes had a GPA of 3.75 or higher this past year, a 17 percent increase over last season. The University of Memphis women's soccer program had 13 honorees on this year's list, trailing only UCF's 14 women's rowing honorees. The Lady Tigers were the only team competing in a C-USA sponsored sport to have double-digit honorees and also won its second consecutive C-USA Conference Tournament Championship this fall. The Tiger volleyball squad also had eight of its 14 team members on the list for the academic medal.
