MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis women's soccer team has released its 2008 fall schedule. The fall season will be highlighted by non-conference home matches against Miami, Oklahoma and Colorado. The Lady Tigers will play a total of nine home matches, while this year's conference tournament will be held in Houston, Texas.

They will begin the preseason on August 12, with an exhibition match on the road against Notre Dame. Two days later they will face Western Kentucky in their last preseason match before the regular season begins.

On Friday, August 22, Memphis will open up regular season play with the first of seven straight non-conference matches. Arkansas-Little Rock will be the Lady Tigers first opponent of the season for the second straight year. The Big 12 will visit Memphis twice with games against Oklahoma and Colorado. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) will be making one appearance with Miami coming to town, while Memphis will play the Southeastern Conference (SEC) three times this year with games against Alabama at home and Ole Miss and Mississippi State on the road.

Conference play opens for the Lady Tigers on Friday, September 26, when they will play the Southern Miss Golden Eagles at home at 7pm. They will face rival UCF on Sept. 28, in their first match since the conference title game. In addition other conference home matches will be Houston on Oct. 10, Rice on Oct. 12 and Marshall on Oct. 24.

Memphis will face UTEP and Colorado College on the road this year; Memphis did not face either team in regular play last season. In addition to those two teams, Memphis will also play SMU, Tulsa, ECU and UAB on the road. UAB will be Memphis' last match before the conference tournament.

The Conference USA tournament will be held from Wednesday, November 5 - Sunday, November 9 at Rice University in Houston, Texas. The NCAA Tournament will begin on Friday, November 14, with the sites waiting to be announced.

"I'm ecstatic about the 2008 schedule. It's definitely going to make for a very exciting season. This is the first year with the new conference format that we are going to be playing everybody, which I think is important in regards to crowning a true regular-season champion," said Head Coach Brooks Monaghan. "Our out of conference schedule is phenomenal. We have some very quality teams on the schedule. We will have some great home matches with Miami, Colorado, Alabama, Oklahoma and plenty others coming to town to face us at Mike Rose. The non-conference schedule will definitely prepare us for conference, where our goal is to repeat as conference champions. This season should be an exciting one for our fans.
