Ten Home Games Highlight Challenging 2012 Women's Soccer Schedule

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Coming off an incredible 22-1-1 season, University of Memphis women's soccer head coach Brooks Monaghan announced a challenging schedule for the 2012 season. The Lady Tigers will play two preseason games before opening the season on August 17. On Friday, August 10, the U of M will travel to 2011 NCAA Tournament participant Illinois State for a preseason match. Western Kentucky visits Mike Rose Soccer Complex on Sunday, August 12 for a preseason tilt against the Blue and Gray. Memphis opens the regular season schedule on the road third for the time in the last four seasons as the Lady Tigers will match up with the Missouri Tigers on Friday, August 17. The Lady Tigers home opener is slated for Friday, August 31 as regional foe Arkansas State visits Mike Rose Soccer Complex. On Sunday, September 2, Oklahoma State visits the Bluff City for a potential top-10 matchup. Memphis (9th) and Oklahoma State (5th) finished the regular season ranked inside the top-10 with 22 wins and each team had 22 wins on the year. A two-game road trip has the Lady Tigers traveling to Vanderbilt for a match on Thursday, September 6. That trip is followed by a match at LSU on Monday, September 10. With the two games against SEC foes, the 2012 season will mark the 10th-straight season the schedule has two or more matches against SEC opponents. After home games against SEMO (9/14) and Middle Tennessee (9/16), the five-time defending Conference USA Champions open defense of the title as UCF travels to Mike Rose Soccer Complex for the league opener on Friday, September 21. The Lady Tigers host Southern Miss (9/23), East Carolina (9/28) and Marshall (9/30) to close a rare six-game homestand. Memphis plays the first of four road games against C-USA opponents at Colorado College on Friday, October 5. UTEP, host of the 2012 C-USA Women's Soccer Championship, will host the Lady Tigers on Sunday, October 7. Rice (10/12) and Houston (10/14) visit the Lady Tigers to close the regular season home schedule. Memphis closes the season with three-straight road games at Tulsa (10/19), SMU (10/21) and UAB (10/25).
