TopDrawerSoccer Ranks Four Lady Tigers in C-USA Top 20

Memphis, Tenn. – Four University of Memphis women’s soccer student-athletes received recognition by TopDrawerSoccer.com as top-20 players in Conference USA. 2009 C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Berra received the number one ranking. Berra posted 15 goals and eight assists last season and became the program’s first All-American. Ranked sixth in the top-20 is senior midfielder Vendula Strnadova. The three-time, first team All-C-USA selection returns for her final season donning the Blue and Gray poised to break several Memphis offensive career records. Junior goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters is the third Lady Tiger in the top-10. The Spokane, Wash., native set school records in single-season shutouts (11) and minutes played (1990) in 2009. Sophomore forward Taylor Isenhower is ranked 17th in the top-20 to give the Lady Tigers the most (four) student-athletes of any C-USA program. The 2009 All-Freshman team selection posted six goals and three assists during her freshman campaign helping Memphis to its’ third-straight C-USA Championship. After a preseason match-up at Western Kentucky University on Aug. 13, the Lady Tigers will travel to St. Louis, Mo., on Fri., Aug. 20 to take on the Saint Louis University Billikens to open the 2010 season. Memphis opens the 11-match home schedule on Aug. 22 at 6 p.m. against Samford at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.
