Lizzy Simonin Listed on Soccer America's Team of the Week

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Helping the University of Memphis women's soccer team limit opponents to a combined 16 shots in the first two matches, senior defender Lizzy Simonin was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week on Wednesday. Simonin picks up her second weekly honor of the week after being named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The Lee's Summit, Mo., native is the fifth player in program history to receive Soccer America Team of the Week accolades. She is the first defender at the U of M to receive the honor. As a continued force in the back for Memphis, Simonin provided impeccable defense in the two matches for Memphis. Simonin helped Memphis limit opponents to just 16 shots in the first two matches. Simonin found the scoring column in Sunday's win over UALR as she assisted freshman Kylie Davis on the game-winning goal of the match. In the LSU match on Friday, Simonin fired a shot on frame off a free kick. The Lady Tigers return to the pitch on Friday as the squad begins a three-game road swing at Alabama. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Soccer America Team of the Week (Aug. 23)
