MEMPHIS, Tenn. - has named Memphis freshman goalkeeper Maryse Bard-Martel the Madness American Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

College Sports Madness identifies the players who have made the greatest impact to their team for each conference and on a national basis each week.

Bard-Martel posted a shutout of Samford, 2-0, in her first collegiate match and followed up the performance with five saves in the win against Missouri on Sunday. The Boisbriand, Quebec, native finished the weekend with six saves in 186:06 minutes as Memphis opened the season at 2-0 for the eighth time in program history.

Sunday's overtime win against Missouri improved Memphis to 17-5-1 against the SEC since 2007. The win also marked the first for the American Athletic Conference against the SEC.

Monday, Bard-Martel was named the American Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Memphis faces SEC foe Vanderbilt (0-1-1) on Friday at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Admission is FREE and kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
