Aug 29, 2013
MEMPHIS, Tenn.- Coming off a thrilling overtime victory over SEC foe Missouri, the University of Memphis women's soccer team returns to the pitch to face another SEC opponent as Vanderbilt visits Mike Rose Soccer Complex for a 7 p.m. match on Friday. Admission to Friday's match is FREE.
Off to a 2-0 start for the eighth time in program history, Memphis (2-0-0) is receiving votes in the NSCAA Top-25 poll. The Lady Tigers received contributions from newcomers as two of the four goals in the opening week came off the feet of first-year players.
Vanderbilt (0-1-1) visits the Bluff City for the first time since defeating the U of M 2-1 in 2001. Friday's meeting will be the fifth in the series that is knotted at 2-2. Diamond Simpson powered home a golden goal in the second overtime stanza a year ago for the Lady Tigers win in Nashville against Vanderbilt.
