Women's Soccer Travels to Missouri State
Sept. 21, 2006 MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Memphis women's soccer team will have one more chance to tune up before it opens the Conference USA season when it travels to Missouri State on Friday for a 7 p.m. tilt with the Lady Bears. The Lady Tigers (4-4) have been very successful away from home this year, posting a 3-1 record in their four road matches. Memphis lost its last match Sunday to Arkansas 1-0, after holding the Arkansas scoreless for 82 minutes before giving up the only goal of the match. "I want to see the team take a positive step in this last match before conference play," Memphis head coach Brooks Monaghan said. "We've had a frustrating season so far because we've been so up and down. Missouri State is a good team, and they'll let us know where we are heading into conference play." The Lady Bears (7-2) have won six consecutive matches. Missouri State picked up a 2-0 victory over Eastern Illinois on Sunday. After facing Missouri State, Memphis will enjoy a small break in its schedule before hosting East Carolina on Sept. 23.
