MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A battle for first place commences on Friday when No. 25 Memphis (6-3-0, 2-0-0 C-USA) takes on East Carolina (6-4-0, 2-0-0 C-USA) at 7 p.m. at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The Lady Tigers close the six-game home stand with a 1 p.m. tilt against Marshall (5-5-0, 1-1-0 C-USA) on Sunday.
Memphis continues the second-longest home stand in program history as the team is in the midst of six-straight at Mike Rose Soccer Complex to close the month of September.
With five upperclassmen (juniors/seniors) on the 2012 roster, Memphis is the second-youngest team in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer.
Memphis is one of 14 teams in NCAA Division I Women's Soccer with all goalkeepers being freshmen, redshirt and/or true-freshmen.
Kylie Davis earned national accolades for two game-winning goals last weekend. TopDrawerSoccer.com named her to the National Team of the Week as did Soccer America. Davis also was named the C-USA Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Marissa Duguay hauled in CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer Weekly Honor Roll accolades.
Head Coach Brooks Monaghan is in his 13th season at the helm of the University of Memphis women's soccer program. He earned his 150th career win against SEMO (Sept. 14) and has a career record of 153-89-15.

Scouting East Carolina East Carolina sits atop the table with Memphis and Rice in the C-USA after week one with a 2-0 record. The Pirates topped UTEP and Colorado by 1-0 scores. ECU has an overall record of 6-4 as they travel to the Bluff City.
Lexi Miller paces the Pirates offense with three goals and Chrissy Gratz has two goals and an assist. Danielle Romano has four assists to lead the team. ECU averages 11 shots per game with Gratz (24) and Caty Butler (15) leading the team in shots.
Junior goalkeeper Christiane Cordero made 11 saves on the weekend to post her third and fourth shutouts of the season. Cordero carries a 1.29 goals-against average with 35 saves on the year.
Inside The East Carolina Series Memphis holds a 10-0-2 advantage in the series against East Carolina. Four of the twelve victories for the Lady Tigers are one goal decisions, with two of those in overtime. Memphis is 4-0-1 against the Pirates at Mike Rose Soccer Complex with the last win coming in the C-USA Tournament last season, 3-0.

Scouting Marshall Marshall enters the weekend at 5-5-0 on the year and 1-1-0 in C-USA play. The Thundering Herd is coming off a 4-1 win over UTEP on Sunday and takes on UAB on Friday in Birmingham, Ala.
Chelsey Maiden and Erin Simmons pace the Herd attack with five goals each. Maiden has four assists to lead the team with 14 points.
Lindsey Kerns has logged every minute in net and sports a 1.47 goals-against average with 48 saves. Kerns has posted two shutouts and has a .762 save percentage.
Inside The Marshall Series Memphis leads the series 7-0 against the Thundering Herd. The Lady Tigers carry a 4-0 record at home against Marshall and has outscored the Herd 14-0 in those matches.

Record Book Watch With two goals against Middle Tennessee on Sept. 16, Christabel Oduro passed Vendula Strnadova for fifth all-time with her 26 career goals. With two goals and an assist against Southern Miss on Sept. 23, Oduro moved one point shy of fifth all-time with 67.
Defense Wins Championships Since the 2007 season, the Lady Tiger defense has helped the U of M to an 85-4-5 record when opponents score one or fewer goals. In that same span, Memphis has 61 shutouts.
Three Is the Magic Number When scoring three or more goals in a match, the U of M carries an 92-6-2 record all-time. Under Head Coach Brooks Monaghan, Memphis is 71-3-2. In the past four seasons in which Memphis has five-straight championships, the record when scoring three or more goals is 37-0-2.
Spread The Wealth In Memphis' 5-0 win over SEMO on Sept. 14, five different players scored goals. The Lady Tigers sport a balanced offense as nine players have scored goals and 11 players have assists.

When We Were Young Head Coach Brooks Monaghan has started eight or more underclassmen in all nine matches this season, with four or more of those eight being freshmen. Overall, Memphis has seen 11 or more underclassmen in games thus far with season-high 22 seeing action against SEMO on Sept. 14.
Memphis is tied with three other schools as the second-youngest squad in all of NCAA Division I Women's Soccer. Morehead State and Virginia Military Institute are statistically the youngest teams with four upperclassmen on their rosters. Memphis is tied with Washington State and Francis Marion for the second-fewest upperclassmen with five.

Remember September Memphis carries a 70-65-9 in the month of September, but over the last five seasons, the Lady Tigers have a 31-12 record. Last season, Memphis was 7-0 with five shutouts in September.
Where's The Finish? Memphis fields one of the youngest teams in NCAA Division I Soccer, so growing pains are expected. In the 2-1 loss at LSU on Sept. 10, Memphis out-shot the opposition 24-8 and held an 11-5 edge in shots on goal. The loss marked the third since 2008 when Memphis records 10 or more shots on goal in a match. In that span, Memphis is 22-3-3 when recording 10-plus shots on goal.
Looking closer, Memphis carries a 15-3-3 record when recording 20 or more shots in addition to 10 or more of those shots being on goal. The loss at LSU was the first since October 2, 2009 at UTEP where Memphis had 24 shots, 11 on goal.
