Oct. 14, 2013
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior forward Kaitlyn Atkins had a goal and three assists in Memphis' two victories over the weekend to land a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced Monday.
Atkins logged her ninth assist of the season on Valerie Sanderson's game-tying goal in the first half on Thursday against SMU. Sunday, Atkins logged two more assists and put away the game-winner in the 4-1 victory against Houston.
With 11 assists on the season, Atkins is one shy of the single-season record of 12 held by Shoko Mikami (2005) and Christy Caswell (1996). With the addition of 11 assists to her career numbers, Atkins is tied for third in program history with teammate Christabel Oduro having assisted on 22 goals.
Memphis plays their final two road games of the regular season this weekend. The Lady Tigers travel to USF on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) match followed by a Sunday encounter at UCF (12 p.m. CT).
