Memphis, Tenn.-- - The Lady Tigers of Memphis (4-10-0) lost another hard fought game to conference rival Houston (9-5-0, 7-0-0) Friday at Echles field. Houston came into the match with the best record in Conference USA at 6-0. The match remained tight throughout.

Houston struck first when, in the 20th minute, Lindsay Beiriger laced a shot past Francis Currin, the Tiger Goalkeeper. Then, with 16 seconds left in the first half, Jackie Horton launched a free kick to Tiger midfielder Ali Baker, knotting the score at 1-1 at halftime.

The game remained tied deep into the second half until the 80th minute, when Ashley Fortenberry took a cross from Tracey Shankle and scored, putting Houston in the lead for good. Three minutes later, Houston midfielder Kara Bullinger iced the game with a strong shot from outside of thirty yards that sailed past Currin to bring the score to 3-1. That's where it ended.

The Tigers next home game is Sunday, October 17th at Echles field at 1:00. It is their last home game of the year, and Seniors Francis Currin and Meredith Smith will be honored before the game. The men's soccer team will follow the women with a game at 3:00 on Sunday against DePaul.
