Christabel Oduro Named to Soccer America National Team of the Week
Oct. 20, 2011
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sophomore forward Christabel Oduro notched game-winning goals in each of Memphis' victories last weekend and with that effort earns Soccer America National Team of the Week honors as announced Thursday by the organization. Oduro tallied two goals on the weekend, both game-winners as Memphis extended its unbeaten streak to 16 matches with wins over UTEP and Colorado College last weekend. Oduro got the Lady Tigers on the board in the 21st minute of the match against UTEP on Friday, logging 87 minutes against the Miners. On Sunday, Oduro came through in the second half with her fourth game-winner on the year to help Memphis edge a solid Colorado College squad 2-1. The Brampton, Ontario, native leads the squad with eight goals on the season and has a team-high 19 points. The national accolade marks the second honor of the season for Oduro. The weekly accolade is the fourth of the season on the national level for the U of M, the most in any season.
No. 9 Memphis (15-0-1) will look to clinch at least a share of the C-USA regular season championship on Friday with a 4 p.m. match-up against Southern Miss.
