MEMPHIS, TENN. - Last year's C-USA regular season champion, C-USA tournament champion, and 2008 preseason C-USA coaches' pick Memphis women's soccer team finished the 2008 regular season with a 12-4-2 overall and 8-2-1 C-USA record. In back to back years, the Lady Tigers clinched a share of the C-USA regular season championship with a 2-1 win over UAB on Thursday, Nov. 30. The Lady Tigers enter play in the 2008 C-USA Women's Soccer Championships and will face UAB again in the first round of the C-USA Championship on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m.

For the second year in a row, Memphis also shares the regular season title with another C-USA team. This year the Lady Tigers have to share the title with the (12-3-4, 7-0-4 C-USA) East Carolina Pirates and once again Memphis enters the C-USA Tournament boasting the No. 2 seed. ECU won the tie-breaker to earn the No. 1 seed in the C-USA Women's Soccer Championship after a 3-2 double overtime victory against Marshall on Friday. The C-USA Championship will be hosted at the Rice Soccer & Track Stadium in Houston Nov. 5-9.

Eight of the 12 C-USA teams advanced to the conference tournament, which begins this Wednesday with first-round matches at noon, 2:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. CST. The semifinals are Friday at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with the final set for Saturday at 1 p.m. (CST). The final will be aired on CBS College Sports, with the quarterfinals and semifinals streamed through C-USA's All-Access package. Conference USA's official website, www.ConferenceUSA.com, will also provide live stats, game recaps, box scores and photos.

The defending C-USA Tournament champions will begin tournament play on Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 5:30 p.m. The match pits second-seeded Memphis (12-4-2, 8-2-1) against No. 7 UAB (7-10-2, 5-4-2) in a rematch of the last game of the 2008 regular season. The Lady Tigers capped off a 7-1-1 month of October by beating UAB, 2-1 on Thursday to share the C-USA regular-season title for the second year in a row. UAB won the title in 2006.

The winner moves to the C-USA semifinals and will face either No. 6 seed Rice (10-8-0, 6-5-0) or No. 3 seed UCF (12-4-3, 7-2-2) on Friday, Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m. The Knights enter the C-USA Championship on a four-match winning streak, but their last loss was to Rice on Oct. 17, 2-1, in double overtime. UCF and Rice also met in the 2007 C-USA Semifinals, where UCF earned a 1-0 victory.
