LOUISVILLE, Ky. - After a dominating second half helped Memphis (12-7) defeat Houston on Friday night, the Lady Tigers advance to play Louisville (12-4-1) on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. (CT) in the quarterfinals of the American Athletic Conference Tournament.
Christabel Oduro broke the school record for goals in Friday's match and did it in incredbile fashion. The senior striker scored two goals in a span of 34 seconds and finished a nine minute span with four goals and an assist. Freshman forward Valerie Sanderson scored twice and is tied for the freshman scoring record with 33 points.
Louisville defeated the U of M 3-2 in overtime in the league opener for both teams this season. The Cardinals finished 8-1-0 in league play and are 6-2 on their home pitch. Memphis leads the all-time series with the Cardinals 6-3-1, but hasn't won since 2001. Sunday's meeting will be the first time the two sides have met in a league tournament, but Louisville defeated the Lady Tigers 2-0 in the 2011 NCAA Tournment.
Louisville hosts a men's soccer match at 1 p.m. (CT) on Sunday. The result of that match could push back the start time of the Lady Tigers match. Follow @MemphisWSoccer for any information on expected game time.
