The University of Memphis women’s soccer team landed three student-athletes on the C-USA Women’s Soccer All-Academic first team as announced by the league office Wednesday.

Junior defender Brittany Hance, 2009 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year Kelsey Bakker and first team All-C-USA selection Vendula Strnadova received C-USA All-Academic first team honors.

Hance received her first All-Academic Team honor and holds a 3.83 grade point average in her major of biology. The O’Fallon, Mo. native, has anchored a defensive backfield that has posted 10 shutouts this season and has started in all 19 matches this season.

Bakker garnered All-C-USA first team and C-USA Defensive Player of the Year honors this season and has played a vital role for the Lady Tiger defensive back line that has posted 10 shutouts this season. The Kennewick, Wash. native, has a 3.92 grade point average as an accounting student with a minor in marketing management.

Strnadova, a 2009 first team All-C-USA selection, collects her second All-Academic Team honor. The Las Cruces, N.M. native, has tallied four goals and two assists this season and holds a 3.98 grade point average in the field of health and human performance.


 

 

Strnadova received first team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV honors and will appear on the Academic All-America ballot later this month. Bakker was a second team CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV selection.

The Lady Tigers will play SMU on Wednesday, Nov. 5th in the first round of the C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
