Memphis/Colorado College Match Notes Get Acrobat Reader

The University of Memphis women’s soccer team defeated SMU 6-2 in the opening round of the C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship to advance to the semifinals against Colorado College. The match will be played at Westcott Field in Dallas, Texas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 6.

In the quarterfinal round of the single elimination tournament, the No. 3 seed Memphis took on the No. 6 seed SMU. C-USA All-Freshman team selection Taylor Isenhower posted two goals to lead five different goal scorers for Memphis in the 6-2 victory. C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Berra tallied her 14th goal of the season and posted assists on the first two goals of the match by sophomore midfielder Julia Ignacio and sophomore forward Lizzy Simonin. Junior forward Amanda Olszewski also recorded a goal for the Lady Tigers and senior midfielder Tori Dalton, junior midfielder Vendula Strnadova and sophomore goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters found the stat column with assists.

Colorado College (12-5-2, 8-2-1 C-USA) received a first round bye as the No. 2 seed. The Tigers of Colorado College last played on Oct. 30th when they defeated the UTEP Miners 5-2. Freshman Brittney Lyman connected on a Colorado College and C-USA record five goals in the second half en route to the season-ending victory.

Memphis defeated Colorado College 2-0 earlier this season at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. The victory during the regular season was Memphis’ first victory in the three game series. Olszewski and Berra tallied goals in the victory on Oct. 4th.

The winner of the Colorado College vs. Memphis match will advance to the C-USA Women’s Soccer Championship game to face the winner of the UCF vs. UAB match on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m. The UCF vs. UAB semifinal match will kick-off at 5 p.m. tomorrow night.
