Memphis, Tenn. -

After winning its third-straight Conference USA Championship, the University of Memphis women’s soccer team has received some individual and team honors going in to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament.

Memphis is ranked 17th in the top 25 poll released by Soccer America. Prior to today’s rankings, the programs highest previous ranking was 24th, which was set after week one of this season.

C-USA Defensive Player of the Year Kelsey Bakker was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week. Bakker missed the opening round match due to injuries but returned for the semifinals against Colorado College, and finals against UCF. With Bakker back in the defensive backfield, Memphis posted back-to-back shutouts for the fifth time this season.

Memphis is awaiting the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament Selection Show which will air Monday night at 7 p.m. (CT) on ESPNEWS.
