Memphis, Tenn. -

The NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship announced the 64 team field Monday night on ESPNEWS. The University of Memphis (16-6-0) women’s soccer team will meet Texas A&M in the opening round of the 2009 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday, November 13.

The Lady Tigers were crowned C-USA Champions for the third-straight season after posting a 3-0 victory over ninth-ranked UCF Sunday in Dallas, Texas. Four Lady Tigers received C-USA All-Tournament Team honors for their contributions in the tournament. Sophomore goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters was named Defensive MVP and freshman forward Taylor Isenhower was named Offensive MVP. Senior Tori Dalton and sophomore Lizzy Hildebrandt joined Kuhar-Pitters and Isenhower on the C-USA All-Tournament Team.

Texas A&M enters the NCAA Tournament with a 14-6-2 record. The Aggies put seven shots on goal but could not find the back of the net as Oklahoma State defeated the Aggies 1-0 for the Big 12 Conference title on Sunday.

With a victory in Friday’s match, Memphis would play the winner of the match between the host and No. 4 seed LSU Tigers versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Memphis picked up a 2-0 road win over LSU to open the season for the first of a school-record 12 shutouts this season.

Match times for the first and second rounds will be announced later this week. Keep up to date with all the latest news by visiting www.gotigersgo.com.
