Lady Tigers To Face Texas A&M In Opening Round of The 2009 NCAA Women's Soccer Championship

Memphis, Tenn. - The NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship announced the 64 team field Monday night on ESPNEWS. The University of Memphis (16-6-0) women’s soccer team will meet Texas A&M in the opening round of the 2009 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship in Baton Rouge, La., on Friday, November 13. The Lady Tigers were crowned C-USA Champions for the third-straight season after posting a 3-0 victory over ninth-ranked UCF Sunday in Dallas, Texas. Four Lady Tigers received C-USA All-Tournament Team honors for their contributions in the tournament. Sophomore goalkeeper Elise Kuhar-Pitters was named Defensive MVP and freshman forward Taylor Isenhower was named Offensive MVP. Senior Tori Dalton and sophomore Lizzy Hildebrandt joined Kuhar-Pitters and Isenhower on the C-USA All-Tournament Team. Texas A&M enters the NCAA Tournament with a 14-6-2 record. The Aggies put seven shots on goal but could not find the back of the net as Oklahoma State defeated the Aggies 1-0 for the Big 12 Conference title on Sunday. With a victory in Friday’s match, Memphis would play the winner of the match between the host and No. 4 seed LSU Tigers versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Memphis picked up a 2-0 road win over LSU to open the season for the first of a school-record 12 shutouts this season. Match times for the first and second rounds will be announced later this week.
