Women's Soccer Enters National Rankings at No. 25

For Immediate Release MEMPHIS -- After winning the Conference USA Championship, the University of Memphis women's soccer team enters the week ranked nationally for the first time ever by Soccer Buzz Magazine. The Lady Tigers are ranked 25th in the online magazine's weekly top 30 poll on Monday. The national ranking is a first for the U of M program by any organization. The Lady Tigers also jumped two spots in the Soccer Buzz Central Region rankings to No. 5, their highest ever regional spot. Memphis (17-3-1, 7-1-1 C-USA) defeated UCF, 2-0, in the league tournament championship game on Sunday to claim the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament. Selection for the tournament will be announced live tonight at 7 p.m. (CST) on ESPN News. This will be the first postseason appearance for the Memphis program. First round of the NCAA Tournament will be at host sites on Friday and Sunday. The first four rounds of the tournament are at campus sites, and the final four will take place on December 7 and 9 in College Station, Texas.
