After Setting NCAA Tournament Record, Oduro Named to National Team of the Week
Nov. 14, 2011
MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sophomore forward Christabel Oduro was named to Top Drawer Soccer's National Team of the Week following her NCAA Tournament record-setting performance in Memphis' 7-0 win over UT-Martin on Saturday night. This marks the sixth time this season that Oduro has been named to a national team of the week. In the second minute of the game, Oduro spun around her defender and beat UT-Martin's goalkeeper in a one-versus-one situation. By the 35th minute, the striker had already recorded a hat-trick. Oduro added a fourth goal and an assist in the second half before exiting to a standing ovation from the crowd. Oduro's nine points in the contest set an NCAA Tournament record for most points recorded in an NCAA Tournament match. Also, she is now tied with Danesha Adams (UCLA '05), Sydney Leroux (UCLA '09) and Melissa Henderson (Notre Dame '09) for the most goals scored in an NCAA Tournament match. Memphis (22-0-1) will host Louisville (13-6-3) in the second round of the Women's Soccer NCAA Tournament on Friday night at Mike Rose Soccer Complex at 7:30 p.m. CT. Florida State (15-6-1) and Portland (10-9-1) are set to square off in the 5:00 p.m. CT match, prior to the Lady Tigers game. Follow the women's soccer tournament central on GoTigersGo.com.
