MEMPHIS, Tenn. – University of Memphis senior midfielder Vendula Strnadova was named ESPN Academic All-America Women’s Soccer second team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Strnadova, one of only two Conference USA student-athletes to receive the honor in 2010, becomes the first Lady Tiger in program history to attain Academic All-America accolades twice. The Las Cruces, N.M., native maintains a 3.97 grade-point average in the exercise and sport science field. She was a third team CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-America selection in 2009.

As a senior, Strnadova started all 22 matches for Memphis and finished with four goals and seven assists and was a key factor in the Lady Tigers fourth-straight C-USA Championship. The four-time first team All-C-USA selection earned her second C-USA Midfielder of the Year honor in 2010 and also earned first team C-USA All-Academic Team recognition.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 15,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
