Mikami Named to Soccer Buzz Regional Team
Dec. 12, 2006 MEMPHIS - Memphis senior Shoko Mikami continues to be honored as one of the top female soccer players in the nation as she was named to the Soccer Buzz All-Central Region Second Team as announced by the publication Tuesday. The Chiba, Japan native proved her worth as one of the top scoring threats in the country throughout her career. In just over two seasons at Memphis, Mikami totaled 28 goals, 21 assists and 77 points, placing her at second on the all-time goals and points lists and third in assists. She was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Year in 2005 after leading the league in every offensive category. She was also named Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week on multiple occasions. Mikami was honored earlier this season by Soccer Buzz, which named her to its National Team of the Week, following back-to-back three-goal performances to open the season. In that same week, Mikami was also named the NSCAA/FOX Soccer Channel Female Player of the Week as well as well as to the Soccer America National Team of the Week. Following the season, Mikami was named first-team All-Conference USA for a second straight year. She was also named to the C-USA All-Academic Team and the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-American Second Team.
