@MemphisSoftball Falls after Giving Up Big Inning to Troy

TROY, Ala. - Troy opened up a scoreless game with nine runs in the fourth inning to shutout the University of Memphis softball team 9-0 in five innings on Saturday night.
Memphis junior pitcher Jordan Richwood had held the Trojans hitless through the first three innings. A leadoff walk to open the bottom of the fourth began a nine-run inning for Troy off six hits, two errors and a hit batter.
The Tigers (1-2) used three pitchers in the fourth with Richwood recording the loss. She allowed four runs on one hit with four strikeouts in three innings of work.
Memphis recorded two hits in the game off Ashley Rainey, both coming from freshmen Lindsay Crowdus and Brittany Vaughn. The duo have hit safely in all three games. The Tigers did not move a runner past first base in the game.
Erica Davis led the Trojans (2-1-1) at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with a run scored. Rainey finished 1-for-2 with two RBI and Kacie McAllister had two runs scored for Troy.
Rainey (1-0) allowed two hits in five innings with two strikeouts and no walks.
The Tigers will close the Troy Subway Invitational on Sunday with a single game against North Florida at 9:30 a.m.
