Wichita State 4, Memphis 1 - Game Two Notes
Feb. 13, 2010
Carly Hummel record a Memphis freshman record with 12 strikeouts in her collegiate debut. The 12 K's ranks in a tie for second place in school history, one behind the record of 13 set by former ace Jenna Kubesch against Alcorn State in 2007. Hummel is the first Tiger to record 10 or more strikeouts in a game since Rayna McClinton struck out 11 against UTEP in 2008. Heather Mott hit her first double of the season and seventh of her career in the fourth inning down the left field line. Mott later scored the Tigers' only run in the game on an RBI by Leigh Rowan. Rowan knocked in the only run for Memphis and finished with six RBI and three hits in the doubleheader. Jessica Phillips also hit her first double of the year in the game and the eighth of her career. The sophomore first baseman finished with three hits and four RBI in the doubleheader. All three hits were for extra bases. Freshman Shanna Brown made her collegiate debut as a pinch runner in the seventh inning.
