Memphis-Texas Tech Game Notes

The game was postponed after an hour rain delay on Friday. The two teams were in the bottom of the third with Red Raiders on first and second with nobody out and Devin Zaragoza at bat with a 3-1 count when the game was delayed.
Sophomore Leigh Rowan scored her third run of the season on a wild pitch in the first inning.
The Tigers faced a tough situation coming back the next day with two runners on, no outs and a 3-1 count to the batter. But freshman Janelle Valle fired a first pitch strike that was lined to Heather Mott at shortstop who turned a double play by tagging the runner at second.
Leila Dolfo had her first multi-hit game of the season. Dolfo finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.
Junior Leandra Hines knocked in her first RBI of the season in the fourth inning on a single up the middle. The hit scored Leila Dolfo for her third run of the season and gave Memphis a 5-0 lead.
Leandra Hines had her second multi-hit game of the season. Hines finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Junior catcher Kimmi Hayden had her first multi-hit game of the season. She finished 2-for-4 with two singles and a run scored.
Freshman Janelle Valle became the first Memphis pitcher to throw a complete game. Valle pitched all seven innings and allowed just one earned run on five hits for her second victory.
The meeting with Texas Tech is the first in the Memphis softball program's history.
