TEMPE, Ariz. - The University of Memphis softball team overpowered Nebraska with three home runs for a 7-3 victory at the Kajikawa Classic at Farrington Stadium on Saturday night.

Memphis (4-4) hit back-to-back home runs in the first inning to pull away with an early 3-0 lead. Senior centerfielder Lindsey Kelso belted a two-run homer to right center, and she was followed by a home run to left by Kimmi Hayden.

The Tigers then scored two runs in the fourth on RBI singles by senior third baseman Melissa Nance and junior first baseman Leila Dolfo. Sophomore Leigh Rowan capped the Memphis scoring with a two-run line drive home run to centerfield in the seventh inning.

Freshman Janelle Valle (3-0) earned her second victory of the day and improved to 3-0 on the season. Valle pitched all seven innings and allowed no runs on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Memphis closes out the Kajikawa Classic with a match-up against Idaho State on Sunday at 11 a.m. (MST). Live stats are available through Gametracker at GoTigersGo.com.
