Memphis vs. Middle Tennessee Post Game Notes - Game One

The game marks the sixth meeting between Memphis and Middle Tennessee. Memphis is now 5-1 all-time against the Blue Raiders and 8-3 all-time against teams from the Sun Belt. Sophomore shortstop Heather Mott hit an RBI double to centerfield in the first inning to knock in the first run for the Tigers. She added a two-run double down the left field line in the second inning. The doubles are the first of the year for Mott. She now has a team leading 10 RBI and six runs scored. Mott finished 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs scored. Heather Mott set a career best with the two doubles and matched a career high with three hits. Heather Mott now has three multi-hit games on the year and 11 in her career. She also has three multi-RBI games and 10 career multi-RBI games. Senior first baseman Leila Dolfo hit her first home run of the season in the first inning, a two-run shot off the scoreboard in left center. The homer is the 28th of her career. She now has three RBI on the year and scored her fourth run of the season. Dolfo finished 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored. Leila Dolfo had her second multi-hit game of the season and 40th of her career. She also had her first multi-RBI game of the year and 23rd of her career. Sophomore catcher Kailey Kassner hit a two-run homer over the centerfield fence to cap the Tigers' five run first inning. The dinger is the seventh of her career. She now has three RBI on the season and one run scored. Kassner finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored. Kailey Kassner had her first multi-RBI game of the year and fifth of her career.
Freshman Kamri Chester hit her first career home run in the second inning, a three run blast over the left center fence. The RBIs give her five on the year and six runs scored. Chester finished 1-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Kamri Chester had her first multi-RBI game of her career. Freshman Lelani Bernardino had her second-multi-hit game of the season. She finished 2-for-3 and had two runs scored giving her four on the season. The three home runs by Memphis ties for third all-time in the program's history. The record of four has been done twice, most recently against Alabama A&M on March 12, 2008. The 10 runs in the game is the second time this season Memphis has reached double digits in runs in a game. The Tigers had 10 runs in a 10-2 victory against Alcorn State. The 11 hits in the game is the second time Memphis has reached double digits in hits. The Tigers had 11 hits in a 7-4 victory against South Alabama. |
