SOUTHAVEN, Miss. -The University of Memphis softball team (3-8) scored two runs in the sixth inning to come back and defeat Indiana State (7-5), 2-1, Friday night at Greenbrook Park.

Megan Stone gave Indiana State a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth with a solo home run to right center. It is her third home run in 12 games this year.

Memphis loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the inning after a pair of errors at short and a walk, but Stephanie Fougerousse struck out Wheeler Hill and Cierra Mangum to end the threat.

Ellen Roberts held the Sycamores hitless in the fifth and sixth innings to keep the game in reach for the Tigers. Roberts got Memphis' first hit of the game in the bottom of the sixth with a one-out double to left center. Jaye Smith followed with a single through the left side to put two runners on the corners for the Tigers. Laura Curtis walked to load the bases before Libby Goranson drew a base on balls to knot the game up at 1-all.

A third-straight walk by ISU allowed Memphis to take the lead as Georganna Goodwin reached first to score Smith for a 2-1 Memphis advantage.

In the seventh inning, Roberts added two strikeouts to total 11 on the evening and forced a grounder to third to earn her first win of the season.

Along with her 11 strikeouts, Roberts held the Sycamores to just three hits and did not allow a walk in her complete game effort.

Memphis will return to the field tomorrow with a 4 p.m. contest against Detroit.
