SOUTHAVEN, Miss. - Jordan Richwood struck out 16 batters to help Memphis earn a 2-1 victory over Southeast Missouri State in the final game of the Blues City Classic on Sunday afternoon at Greenbrook Park.

The Tigers finished undefeated in the tournament to earn their first Blues City Classic title with a 3-0 record. Memphis was the only school among the 12-participants

to finish undefeated. Ellen Roberts and Lelani Bernardino were both named to the Blues City Classic All-Tournament first team and Richwood was named to the second team.

Richwood's 16 strikeouts set a new school record for K's in a seven-inning game. The mark ranks second in school history behind Carly Hummel's 19 in a 1-0 nine-inning loss to Texas A&M.

Morgan Mosby led the Memphis offense with a 2-for-3 game at the plate and scored both runs.

Memphis took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. Mosby hit a one-out single and later scored from second on a single through the rights side by Ellen Roberts.

The Redhawks tied the game in the top of the sixth inning. Zink hit a two-out triple and scored on a double by Patterson.

Memphis regained its one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth. Mosby led off the inning with a single and scored from third on a two-out throwing error at third base to give the Tigers the go-ahead run.

SEMO ended the game by having the tying run thrown out at second trying to steal. It marked Amber Lindahl's 11th caught stealing of the season. She is now 5-for-11 in throwing runners out.

Richwood (2-2) has struck out 22 batters in 10-consecutive innings over the last two days. She earned her second victory, allowing one run on four hits with just one walk.

Roberts finished the tournament with a 2-0 record and a 0.64 ERA. She struck out 19 batters in 11 innings with just one walk. The junior also had an RBI and a run scored.

Bernardino hit .375 in the tournament (3-for-8) and had a run scored and an RBI. She boasted a .545 on-base percentage with two walks and a couple stolen bases.

Memphis will next travel to Hawai'I for the Bank of Hawai'I Invitational. The Tigers play No. 19 Hawai'I on Wednesday in a game televised by Oceanic Time Warner.
