March 6, 2011
Memphis starter Carly Hummel struck out a school-record 19 batters, bettering her old record of 15 (twice, last against Alabama State, April 14, 2010). She hasn't allowed an earned run in the past 11.1 innings pitched. Freshman Amber Lindahl set a school record with 20 putouts, besting Kailey Kassner's 18 against Southeast Missouri, Feb. 23, 2008. Memphis is now 2-1 on the year in extra inning games, and is 2-1 against Top-25 opponents. Memphis had few chances in the field and got a season-low two assists. After Lelani Bernardino's single in the third inning, Memphis did not manage another hit for the remainder of the contest. This is the Tigers second consecutive loss without allowing an earned run. Memphis tied a season-low with two hits, last coming in a win against Lipscomb, Feb. 20.
