The hit came after UTEP changed pitchers with a 2-2 count, brining in Stacie Townsend to replace Kelly Curran. McKinley hit in Tori Gross and Kamri Chester from second and third. The RBI are the ninth and 10th for McKinley and marks her third multi-RBI game of the year. Gross scored her 19th run of the season and Chester scored her 14th on the play. After Vanessa Walle led off with a double to right center, Kamri Chester hit a RBI single up the middle to score the first run. Maddie McKinley then delivered a two-run single to left field, and Leila Dolfo had a bases loaded RBI single through the left side. The Tigers ended the inning with the bases loaded. Freshman Kamri Chester hit her third double of the season in the top of the fifth. The double came on a high pop fly to shallow left center that provided difficulty for UTEP to get under. With the single in the fourth and double in the fifth, Chester had her seventh multi-hit game of the season. After Kamri Chester hit a one-out double and back-to-back walks to Maddie McKinley and Nikki Moreno, the Tigers loaded the bases for the second-straight inning. But Jessica Phillips received a called third strike on a full count and Lelani Bernardino grounded out to third to end the inning and strand the three runners. The Miners scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth to regain the lead at 6-4. UTEP loaded the bases with no outs on two walks and a single by Camilla Carrera. After getting Ashley Ellis to line out to short, a passed ball allowed the first run to score and then the throw by the catcher to the plate on the play was overthrown, allowing the second run to cross the plate on a close call at home. Courtney Ware then knocked in the third run with a two-out single through the right side. UTEP added to its lead in the bottom of the sixth inning with two solo home runs to go up by four, 8-4. Chelsea Troupe hit her third home run of the series and eighth of the season to left field and Camilla Carrera followed with her second home run of the day and fourth in the three games to centerfield.
