Heather Mott hit her first double of the season and 13th of her career in the fourth inning. She then scored the Tigers' first run, her 14th run of the season.

Jessica Phillips knocked in her team-leading 11th RBI of the season with a single in the fourth inning to score Heather Mott.

Maddie McKinley stole her 31st base of her career and team-leading eighth of the season. She ranks third all-time in school history in stolen bases.

Ashleigh King knocked in her second run of the day with an RBI fielder's choice in the seventh to score Maddie McKinley from third. The freshman now has eight RBI on the season. The run is the 10th for McKinley.

• Freshman Amber Lindahl threw out two steal attempts in the game, marking the first time a Memphis catcher has accomplished the feat since Keanah Prestridge against Drexel on Feb. 26, 2010.

Lauren Carley improved to 2-1 with the victory. Carley allowed one run on five hits in six innings of work with three strikeouts.

Janelle Valle picked up her third career save and first of the season. Valle throw one inning and struck out one.

• Memphis is now 4-12 all-time against East Carolina. The win snapped an 11-game losing streak against the Pirates.

• Memphis is 8-3 in 1-run games this season.
