Leigh Rowan extended her hitting streak to a career best seven games with a single in the top of the fourth inning to left center. The hitting streak ties Heather Mott for the longest streak this season. Maddie McKinley extended her hitting streak to four games with a single through the left side in the top of the fourth. Leigh Rowan had her sixth multi-hit game of the season with singles in the fourth and sixth innings. It is her fourth multi-hit game in the past seven games and 20th of her career. Maddie McKinley had her fourth multi-hit game of the season with singles in the fourth and sixth innings. It is her 13th career multi-hit game. Maddie McKinley knocked in her ninth RBI of the season with a single in the sixth inning. The hit scored pinch runner Alex Marshall from third for Marshall's third run of the season. Memphis now is 6-3 this season when scoring first and 7-0 when leading after six innings and 3-5 in one-run games. Pinch hitter Nikki Moreno singled through the right side in the top of the seventh inning for her first hit of the season. This is the eighth game in the 13-game history between the two schools that has been decided by a run. Lauren Carley (1-0) picks up her first victory of the season with 2 and two thirds innings of scoreless relief. She combines with Vanessa Walle for the five-hit shutout. It is the third shutout of the season for Memphis.
Maddie McKinley knocked in her second game-winning RBI with her sixth-inning single. It is her fourth career game-winning RBI. Alex Marshall scored her first game-winning run with the Tigers' only run in the sixth inning. Memphis is now 2-3 all-time in the C-USA opener and are now 4-8 in the C-USA opening series. |
