• This is the fifth game between the two schools with Memphis now leading the series 3-2. All five meetings have been shutouts.

Leandra Hines registered the first hit in the game for Memphis in the first inning. She then stole her team-leading 11th base of the season.

• Memphis is now 3-15 this season when the opponent scores first.

• Memphis is now 4-1 this season in Wednesday games.

Kimmi Hayden threw out her eighth steal attempt of the year in the bottom of the third inning.

Sara Schneider stole her third base of the season as a pinch runner in the top of the fourth inning. It is her first stolen base since February 23 against Alabama A&M.

Leila Dolfo extended her hitting streak to three games with a single down the left line in the fifth inning.

• Memphis is now 2-11 this season when trailing after five innings.

• The 10 strikeouts by Tennessee State is the second time in a row Memphis has struck out at least 10 times in a game. The U of M Tigers struck out 15 against Houston on Sunday.

• TSU pitcher Amanda Vaught shutout Memphis for the second-straight time. Vaught threw a 1-0 victory against the U of M in Memphis last year.
