Memphis-UTEP Game Notes

The series sweep of UTEP is the first conference three-game sweep for Memphis since winning all three games to end the regular season against UCF last year.
With two singles in the game, Tori Gross had her fourth multi-hit game of the season. The junior second baseman finished 3-for-8 in the series with four RBI and two runs scored.
The Tigers are now 6-2 all-time against the Miners and 5-0 at home.
Leila Dolfo had her sixth multi-walk game of the season with two bases on balls. The junior first baseman leads the team in walks with 26.
Tori Gross scored the game-winning run in the fourth inning on a wild pitch. It is her first winning run of the season and the fourth time Memphis has scored the game winner on a wild pitch this year. Gross scored her ninth run of the season on the play.
Leandra Hines hit her second double of the season in the first inning to right field. It is only the second career two-bagger for the junior.
Tori Gross knocked in the first run of the game for Memphis in the second inning on an RBI single to centerfield. It is her 11th RBI of the season and scored Heather Mott from second for her 22nd run of the year.
Sophomore Leigh Rowan knocked in her 12th RBI of the season in the fourth inning in a pinch hit appearance. Rowan brought in Brittany Gooch from third on a ground ball that was misplayed by the third baseman. It is Gooch's ninth run of the season.
Leila Dolfo scored her team-leading 28th run of the season in the fourth inning after scoring from third on a throwing error by UTEP. The second baseman caught a line drive and then tried to double up Lindsay Kelso at first but overthrew the base.
Leandra Hines scored her 15th run of the season in the fourth inning on a throwing error by the catcher. Lindsay Kelso stole second and then Hines and Kelso advanced when the throw bounced past second base into center.
Rayna McClinton earned her second win in the three-game series to improve to 4-3 on the year. She allowed one run on four hits with three strikeouts. McClinton struck out 14 batters in 12 innings against the Miners.
This is the second day Memphis has won after the opponent has scored first. The Tigers are now 14-5 when its opponent scores the first run of the game.
The Tigers are now 13-1 when leading after five innings.
