HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The University of Memphis softball team scored four runs in the seventh and survived a late Southern Miss comeback for a 6-5 victory on Sunday to earn the series sweep.

The Tigers (18-26, 6-9 C-USA) earn just its second three-game sweep over Southern Miss (11-29, 1-13) and second-straight in Hattiesburg at the Southern Miss Softball Complex. Memphis has won nine of the last 10 games in the series and holds an all-time 14-9 advantage.

The U of M outscored the Golden Eagles 35-10 in the three-games and has matched a season-long win streak of four games.

Junior first baseman Kelly Braman and junior RHP Ellen Roberts both drove in two runs in the game, while senior outfielder Lelani Bernardino and senior second baseman Morgan Mosby led the team with a pair of hits.

Roberts improved to 9-17 in the circle, earning the win in relief. She pitched the final three and two-third innings and allowed three runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Sophomore RHP Jordan Richwood (8-8) received a no-decision after starting and allowing two runs on three hits with six strikeouts in three and a third innings.

Memphis took an early 2-0 lead in the third inning, scoring runs on a RBI single by junior catcher Amber Lindahl and a RBI groundout by Braman.

Southern Miss scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth to knot the game up at two. A leadoff walk to Morgan McKeever resulted in the first run after a double by Danielle LaPointe and a single by Michelle Stringer. Kimberly Wagner drove in the second run with a bases-loaded walk.

Memphis broke the tie with four runs in the seventh inning. Bernardino plated the first run after leading off the inning with a single to center. Mosby drove her in with a RBI single up the middle. Braman later drove in her second run of the game with a single down the left field line to score freshman pinch runner Lindsie Knowles. Roberts drove in the final two runs with a double to left field.

The Golden Eagles countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and left the tying run at second and the winning run at first. After a walk and a single to begin the inning, Katie Cleary cleared the bases with a triple to right center. McKeever followed with a sac fly to center to score Cleary. After an error and a single with two outs put runners on first and second, Roberts got Stringer to foul out to first to end the game.

Cleary led Southern Miss offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. Stringer also went 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Beth Dietrich suffered the loss in the circle after allowing four runs on eight hits in four and two-third innings of relief. Emily Wood started the game and allowed two runs on a hit in two and a third innings.

Memphis will next travel to UL-Monroe for a single mid-week game on Wednesday at 5 p.m. to conclude an 11-game road swing. The Tigers will then open a four-game home stand beginning with a three-game series with UCF on Saturday and Sunday, April 13-14, at the Tigers Softball Complex.
