Senior Nicki Johnson (10-9) earned her 10th victory of the year after pitching five innings. The Tucson, Ariz., native allowed two earned runs on six hits and struck out four. Senior Jenna Kubesch pitched a scoreless inning, striking out the side in the sixth in the win. Memphis scored four runs in the second, three in the fifth and four in the sixth in a 13-hit performance. Senior third baseman Bridgette McNulty led the Lady Tigers with a 3-for-4 performance with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored. Junior catcher Lindsay Keslo also knocked in two runs and had her first career triple. In the first inning, Johnson pitched herself out of a bases loaded one-out jam. An error, a single and a walk juiced the bases for Alcorn State, but Johnson struck out Tonya Nelms for the second out and threw out Keandra McLemore at first on a ground ball to end the threat. Memphis then scored four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-0 lead. McNulty led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a throwing error from a ground ball hit by senior first baseman Kara Ross. With one out, the runners advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Senior Lindsey Pridgen then hit an RBI single to center field to score the first run of the game. An Alcorn State error allowed the second run to score, and then a single by Brittany Gooch scored the third run. A fielder's choice by Kelso capped the scoring drive in the inning. Alcorn State came within one of the Memphis lead with three runs in the top of the fifth. But Memphis answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning to lead 7-3. Memphis then ended the game with four runs in the sixth inning that began with a solo home run by sophomore shortstop Leila Dolfo. Notes Bridgette McNulty hit two doubles in the game, giving her eight on the year. The two doubles ties a career high. McNulty had her second three-hit game of the season and sixth of her career. She now has seven multi-hit games on the year. McNulty had two RBI in the game, giving her seven multi-RBI games this year. Melissa Nance hit a pinch hit RBI double in the sixth inning. The double is her second of the season. Lyndsey Sterling had her first hit of the season as a pinch hitter in the sixth inning. Sterling hit her second career double to end the game off the center field fence. It was her third career RBI. Lindsay Kelso hit her first career triple in the fifth inning to knock in a run. Kelso had two RBI in the game, her sixth multi-RBI game of the season. Leila Dolfo hit her team-leading sixth home run of the year in the sixth inning off the left field foul pole.
