Memphis Softball Game Notes

This is the first three-game conference sweep for Memphis in the program's history. Memphis is now 10-6 in one run games and has won four-straight games by one-run. The last five games have been decided by a run for Memphis. Bridgette McNulty had her eighth multi-hit game with a double and a home run in a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored. McNulty gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead in the second inning with her seventh home run of the season. She nearly had her eighth later in the game with a fly ball that was caught on the warning track in center field. Leigh Rowan had her fifth multi-hit game with two singles. Picking up where she left off with four-straight hits on Saturday, Rowan began the game with two-straight singles. Bridgette McNulty scored both Memphis runs in the game, including the game-winner in the fourth inning. She now has 32 runs scored and 31 RBI. The winning run is her fourth of the season. Lindsay Kelso knocked in the winning run in the fourth inning with a sacrifice fly to right field. It is her 21st RBI and third game-winning RBI. Leigh Rowan stole her first base of her career. Jenna Kubesch became the first Memphis player to surpass 200 strikeouts in a season. The senior has 204 on the year and 362 in her two-year career. Jenna Kubesch won her fourth game of the week and picked up the win in all three games against UAB. Kubesch pitched in all seven games in the week and went 4-1 with a save and a 0.84 ERA. She struck out 40 in 33.1 innings and walked only three.
The Tigers are 25-3 when scoring the first run of the game. Memphis is now 4-2 all-time against UAB. The Sunday win is the first for Memphis in conference play this season. The Tigers were 0-4 in Sunday C-USA games coming into today. |
