Memphis, Tenn.--The University of Memphis softball secured a 3-2 victory over the Louisville Cardinals late in the seventh inning in game one of the American Athletic Conference series Saturday afternoon at the Tigers Softball Complex. With the win Memphis improves to 23-30 overall and 5-13 in conference play. Louisville falls to 31-20 and 12-7.

Senior Ellen Roberts (12-18) earned the win for the Tigers, allowing two runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Louisville's Maryssa Becker (12-7) took the loss in game one, allowing four runs on 10 hits with eight strikeouts.

Memphis came back from a 2-1 deficit in the bottom of the seventh inning with two runs for the win. After an intentional walk to load the bases with two outs, Roberts singled to left to drive in Lindsay Crowdus with the walk-off game-winning run.

Amber Lindahl came around to score the tying run in the seventh on a single by Wheeler Hill that was misplayed by the center fielder.

Crowdus and Lindahl each had two hits and one run. Kelly Braman went 1-for-3 in the win. Roberts, Jaye Smith, and Hill each had a hit in the contest.

The Cardinals took the early lead when both Brittany Duncan and Whitney Arion hit solo home runs in back-to-back innings leading the Tigers, 2-0.

Braman scored the first run for the Tigers in the bottom of the fourth after doubling to left center. Braman went home on Smith's single to left field.

Game two of Saturday's doubleheader between Memphis and Louisville is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the Tigers Softball Complex
