Memphis-UAB Post Game Notes
May 7, 2009
Senior Leila Dolfo led off the game with her 10th double of the season and 52nd of her career. She is now tied for sixth all-time in C-USA in career doubles.
Freshman Lelani Bernardino picked up her team-leading 11th sacrifice bunt in the first inning and added her 12th in the second. Bernardino ranks third in the program's history for most sacs in a season. The two sacs in a game is a career high.
The four runs given up by Memphis in the first inning are the second most runs the team has allowed to begin a game this season. The Tigers gave up 10 runs to Tulsa on March 22.
Leigh Rowan had her fourth multi-RBI game of the season with a two-run single in the fifth inning to extend the game and stop UAB from run-ruling. The RBIs are the 16th and 17th of the year for Rowan. The run scored Tori Gross and Kamri Chester from second and third. Gross now has 30 runs scored and Chester has 24.
Memphis recorded a program record seven errors in the game. The previous record of six had been done three times.
Alyssa Palmieri scored her sixth run of the season on a throwing error by the third baseman in the top of the sixth.
Lelani Bernardino knocked in the fifth Memphis run with an infield single in the sixth inning to score Leandra Hines from third. The RBI is Bernardino's 17ths and the run is Hines second in the game and gives her 21 on the year.
Tori Gross had her ninth multi-hit game of the year with two singles in the game.
The loss ends to UAB ends Memphis' season after the Tigers had ended the Blazers season the last two years.
