MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The University of Memphis softball team returns home this weekend as hosts of the seventh annual Blues City Classic at Greenbrook Park in Southaven, Miss.

Memphis (4-5) is coming off a 3-2 finish at the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational last weekend in Lafayette, La. The Tigers picked up two victories over Boston College and a win over Valparaiso over the weekend. The two setbacks came against tough competition, as No. 4 Michigan and No. 20 Louisiana defeated Memphis during the event.

Freshman outfielder Lindsay Crowdus hit .471 with four runs scored and three runs batted in over the weekend, and was named to the Ragin' Cajuns Invitational All-Tournament team. Through nine games in 2014, Crowdus leads the Tigers with a .448 (13-for-29) batting average.

In the circle, Ellen Roberts and Christian Novak each picked up wins over the weekend and both pitchers now have two victories each for the season.

Memphis welcomes 10 teams to Greenbrook Park in Southaven, Miss., for this year's Blues City Classic. A total of 24 games will be played over the weekend, and admission is free for all contests.

The Tigers will play one game each day. Friday night, the Tigers face off against the Morehead State Eagles (1-4) before facing the Missouri State Bears (6-2) on Saturday evening. First pitch for the Tigers' Friday and Saturday games is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

Memphis concludes the event on Sunday with a game at noon against the SEMO Redhawks (3-2).
