HONOLULU, Hawaii-- The University of Memphis softball team is set to begin play in the Bank of Hawaii Invitational hosted by the University of Hawaii from Friday through Sunday.
The Tigers (5-9) are one of four teams competing in the tournament that also includes Campbell and Western Kentucky. Memphis will open with Campbell on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (HT)/7:30 p.m. (CT) at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Memphis will play two games on Saturday, facing Western Kentucky at 1 p.m. (HT)/5 p.m. CT followed by No. 20/22 Hawaii at 5 p.m. (HT)/9 p.m. (CT). The tournament concludes on Sunday with tournament play with the U of M playing two games to be determined.

No. 20/22 Hawaii Tops Memphis, 5-1
No. 20/22 Hawaii scored three late runs on its way to a 5-1 victory over the University of Memphis softball team at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Tigers' pitching this week averaged 13.7 strikeouts per game, 0.7 walks per game and had a 1.00 ERA.
In the first two weeks of the season, Memphis averaged 5.1 strikeouts per game, 5.3 walks per game and had a 4.18 ERA.
Ellen Roberts led the team with a 2-0 record and an 0.64 ERA. She struck out 19 in 11 innings and allowed one run on five hits with one walk.
Jordan Richwood struck out 22 in her 10 innings of work and finished 1-0 with a save. She struck out a school seven-inning record of 16 against SEMO in a 2-1 victory. Richwood had a 1.40 ERA with two runs scored on six hits with one walk.
Roberts Named TSWA Pitcher of the Week
Ellen Roberts was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Pitcher of the Week on February 26.
Roberts led Memphis with a 2-0 record at the Blues City Classic and had an 0.64 ERA.
The Australian struck out 19 in 11 innings and allowed one run on five hits with one walk.
Richwood Strikes Out 16
Jordan Richwood struck out a school seven-inning record 16 batters in a 2-1 victory over SEMO.
The mark ranks second all-time in school history.
Richwood struck out 22 batters on the week in 10 innings with just one walk.
Sixth Annual Blues City Classic
Memphis won its first Blues City Classic with a 3-0 record.
The Tigers were the only school of the 12 programs to finish the tournament undefeated
Memphis allowed just three runs in the three games and had two one-run victories.
Tigers' pitching dominated with 43 strikeouts in the three games.
Junior catcher Amber Lindahl set a new school career record for runners thrown out stealing, surpassing the previous record of 30 set by Kimmi Hayden (2006-08). Lindahl has thrown out 35 runners in her three years.
Lindahl threw out two of three attempts (67%) last week and has thrown out 11 of 16 attempts (69%) in the first two weeks of the season.
Lindahl set the school-single season record last year with 21, which tied for the lead in Conference USA.

The Tigers have participated in 26 different tournaments in eight seasons and carry a 59-64 record into the Bank of Hawaii Invitational
This year, Memphis is 5-8 in tournament play.
Last year, Memphis finished 4-14 in four regular season tournaments.

The Tigers are scheduled to play eight opponents in 2013 for the first time: Campbell, Detroit, Jackson State, Nicholls State, Texas, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Virginia and Western Kentucky.

The Tigers two wins against ranked teams came in 2011 with victories against No. 22 Ohio State in the season opening weekend and at #16 Stanford.
The U of M is 0-16 against teams ranked in the top 10.
Memphis has had two near miss against a top 10 opponent. The Tigers fell 7-2 at #7 LSU in 2007 after the U of M gave up five runs in the top of the ninth inning.
Memphis came an out away from beating No. 10 LSU in 2013, but LSU rallied to score two runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh for a 5-4 win.
