MEMPHIS - The University of Memphis will host a doubleheader with Central Arkansas on Wednesday at 3 and 5 p.m. at the Tiger Softball Complex on the U of M's Park Avenue Campus.

The Tigers enter the midweek match-up 9-8 after finishing 1-3 at the Residence Inn Invitational hosted by No. 9/10 Oklahoma. Central Arkansas is 2-12 and 0-3 in the Southland Conference. The Bears were swept in a conference three-game series last week against Southeastern Louisiana.

The two schools will play each other for the first time ever. Last year Central Arkansas appeared in the Memphis' Blues City Classic, but did not play the Tigers.

Central Arkansas returns 11 letterwinners from last season's team that finished 16-42 and 6-24 in the Southland Conference. The Bears' two victories this season came against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Louisiana Tech. UCA has played two other Conference USA opponents, falling 3-0 at Tulsa and 11-2 at UCF.

Senior shortstop Janae Owens is second on the team with a .286 batting average. She has five RBI, four runs scored, two doubles and a home run. Sophomore Keatha Tollett leads the team with a .290 average.

Both games of the doubleheader with Central Arkansas can be followed live through GameTracker. Live video is also available through Memphis All-Access with a subscription. A link to the livestats and Memphis All-Access can be found at GoTigersGo.com.

Memphis had a doubleheader with Alcorn State postponed on Tuesday until a yet to be determined date due to inclement weather. The Tigers will close the week by opening conference play with a three-game home set against Marshall beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. and the third game played on Sunday at noon.
